We often receive questions surrounding what gear we use to capture our images.
Whilst our images are more reflective of how we interact with our clients, our photography technique and style (rather then the gear itself) we’ll provide some insight into what we use. If we aren’t using it, there is probably a good reason.
Cameras
Canon 5D Mark II’s: fabulous camera, particularly in low light
Canon 5D: older brother of the Mark II though also creates lovely files
Lenses
Canon 24mm f/1.4: Gorgeous wide lens
Canon 35mm f/1.4: Josh’s favourite lens. Love the colours, speed, sharpness and versatility of this lens
Sigma 50mm f/1.4: Kylie’s favourite lens. Great colours, speed, silky bokeh and brilliant portrait lens. Prefer over all Canon 50mm’s.
Sigma 85mm f/1.4: A stunning portrait lens with silky bokeh. Prefer over the (slow) Canon 85mm f/1.2.
Canon 135mm f/2: Gorgeous portrait lens with the most stunning colour, bokeh and feel.
Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS: All-round great lens which performs well, particularly in times when limited equipment can be carried
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS: Ceremony workhorse and lovely for portraits. A must have in any wedding/portrait bag
Lighting
Canon 430EXII Speedlight Flashes: Predominately we use off-camera. The 500′s series Speedlights are more powerful though moreĀ temperamentalĀ in our experiences.
Pocketwizard MiniTT1′s & Flex TT5′s: Love these off-camera radio triggers. Very reliable firing and long-distance range
LED Video Light: Our alternative off-camera lighting when flash isn’t suitable
Camera Bags & Cards
ThinkTank Retrospective Bags & Belts
ShootSac Lens Bags
Crumpler Milliondollar Bags
ThinkTank Pocket Rockets for compact flash cards
8GB & 16GB SanDisk Extreme IV Compact Flash Cards
Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries
Many miscellaneous accessories such as tripods, reflectors, etc also used.
