This post is one I’ve been meaning to write for a while and is often a hot topic between clients, fellow photographers and the industry in general. If you’d rather skip to our images feel free to scroll down to subsequent posts.
Why does a Ferrari cost more than a Ford?
Why does a Louis Vuitton handbag cost more than one from your local retail store?
Quality.
The attention to detail, material used and the handcrafted nature of completing the product are but a few of the attributes that exist in producing Ferrari and Louis Vuitton product. Whilst these products are obviously competing in a different market segment there is strong underlying reasons for their associated investment. Kylie and I are strong believers (and associated purchasers) of quality over quantity products and services.
Tuning into the discovery channel documentary Megafactories – Making a Ferrari 599GTB or reviewing the history and product of Louis Vuitton provides a fresh perspective on why such investments are made.
How does this relate to photography?
I’m not suggesting we are the Ferrari or Louis Vuitton of photography. Our printing product, like that of other passionate photographers focuses on quality and is not comparable to matte or glossy prints from the retail market. Apples and Oranges…
Kylie and I focus purely on fine art image printing.
We differentiate.
We cannot compete with high volume, low cost glossy and matte retail printing markets – nor do we want too.
Finely tuning each individual image for a custom print matters to us, as it does to our discerning clientele. We love nothing more than seeing our work printed at its best for our clients.
Our clients images are printed on museum grade fine art cottonĀ paper, either rolled or mounted by our professional framers. These prints last a lifetime. The style and vibrancy of our work is most suited to this beautiful paper. It holds such gorgeous colour and black and white tones.

Whilst the presentation of the images can only truly be felt in person if you have been scratching your head as to why professional image printing investment seems different to that of a retail store or you are a photographer looking to educate your clients on the quality of the investment, we hope you’ve enjoyed this post. It’s also given me an excuse to try out our latest lens purchase – Canon 135mm f2 L.
